MARK McCARTHY

Mark worked part time as tour director and sales representative for McCarthy’s Party from the age of fifteen until he finished his first undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Memorial University in 1993. The following year he was awarded an exchange scholarship with Eastern New Mexico University where he completed an English degree. His Bachelor of Arts for this program was awarded by Memorial University in 1995. That same year he accepted a position with Sports Villas resorts as the Director of Corporate Sales. In 1996, he enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration Program at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He graduated in 1997 with a special focus on financial strategies for the family enterprise.

Mark took on the role of President of McCarthy’s Party Tours and Convention Services in 1999. McCarthy’s Party, which was founded in 1982, has evolved into Newfoundland and Labrador’s Premier Full Service Destination Management Company and Escorted Tour Company. His knowledge of the tourism industry and his experience in other business sectors have allowed him to serve on many boards in the past including The St. John’s Board of Trade, the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism Board, Board of Destination St. John’s and CANAL.
