FRENCH FORTS & DILDO FLIGHTS

What is the French Forts & Dildo Flights tour?

French Forts and Dildo Flights is a full-day guided tour to the west side of the Avalon Peninsula, departing St. John's at 8:30 AM on select dates, priced at $175 per adult and $125 per child plus HST with lunch, a tasting flight at the Dildo Brewing Co., all entrance fees, and free hotel pickup included. It runs mid-May to late September, returning to St. John's between 4:30 and 5:00 PM. This is the day you cross the Avalon to the old French capital of Newfoundland - and on to the most famously named town in Canada, Dildo!

What do you see on the French Forts and Dildo Flights tour?

You'll head straight out to Castle Hill National Historic Site, where the ruins of the French Fort Royal still command a sweeping view over Placentia Bay, built when Placentia was Plaisance, capital of French Newfoundland. Then it's down into town for a scenic walk along the boardwalk and through Placentia's historic waterfront, followed by lunch by the bay. In the afternoon we cross to Trinity Bay and the postcard town of Dildo, with time to wander the wharf, photograph the famous hillside sign, and enjoy an included tasting flight at the Dildo Brewing Co. (non-alcoholic options available). Your local guide narrates the history, folklore, and culture throughout.
