TR’EE’S COMPANY

We met up with old friends from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and it wasn’t long before the conversation brought us back to all the great times we’d shared while operating a resort near the city’s signature ski hill – ‘Marble Mountain’. There were stories aplenty and though we enjoyed many laughs, his wife could take no more when we declared Corner Brook as the greatest city in North America.

“… greatest city in North America…”

“Are you two crazy?”, she near shouted; “Corner Brook is a beautiful spot but don’t you realize the common denominator wasn’t the city – its you clowns! You and your guests had such a wicked lifestyle.  You owned a resort that was always busy, wherever you went you drove a bus and arrived with enough people to “make” a party. Party people who were on vacation and were treated like royalty. I suppose you did think Corner Brook was the greatest place on earth – it was, whenever your crowd showed up!”

“… you were the party…”

Ha! Never thought of it that way. Which is surprising since Mother built McCarthy’s Party Tours  on a similar cornerstone. She really took the namesake seriously, insisting that every trip feel like a party. Like any good party, that required proper planning – starting with the number of guests she’d allow on a coach.

One of the things guests should really understand and appreciate about a McCarthy’s Party Tour experience – we offer small group sizes on full size coaches. Mother wouldn’t book any more than 36 passengers on a trip – though sometimes a larger group booking, or the overlap between programs can bring us up to 38 – but we won’t “quibble” over that.

“… small group sizes…”

Here’s why we still won’t “Fill‘er to the gunnels!”;

1. 36 people is an ideal party number, enough personalities to ensure a sufficiency of like-minded souls and common ground for everyone to enjoy. You will make new friends on these tours – lifelong friendships that often bring entire groups back for return experiences.

2. There’s lots of extra seats when you’ve only got 36 backsides to fit in a 57-passenger coach. This means that “Long Legs” can take two seats in the back and really stretch out in comfort.

3. We rotate seats daily to ensure everyone has a turn in the front, and to encourage more group interaction as you share aisle space with a different “seat mate” every day.

4. Many restaurants can’t handle a typical coach tour. Smaller groups allow us to dine in more intimate surroundings that offer authentic experiences for the right sized (and well behaved) crowd.

“… more intimate surroundings…”

5. It takes minimal time to “load and go” guests on the many stops we make throughout the days

6. In very short order, guides can easily commit 36 names to memory – helping generate a sense of family, comfort and cohesion

7. Safety is always paramount and our groups bandy quickly, watching out for each other, cloistering for evening walks, and offering sage advice on every purchase; “My god that scarf suits you to a ‘T’!”

8. Together with our expert drivers, we have an excellent guest / host ratio that ensures all questions are answered and every care is provided

9. Guest / host interaction is encouraged on McCarthy’s Party Tours and guides are anxious to break bread with their guests. Three meals a day on a 12 day tour allows us to sit with everyone at least once during the trip.

10. Extra seats are perfect for the “Hard Tickets” who like to sit in the back of the bus and giggle, the “Nesters” who’ll pull out of the rotation and opt for the same seats throughout the trip, and the many men whose wives relegate them for a “Time Out”. LOL

Guess you might say – ‘Tr’ee’s Company’ takes on a whole new meaning when you’re travelling with McCarthy’s Party Tours. “

“… Tr’ee’s Company…”
