NEWFOUNDLAND FUN NIGHT

“Rally in the Alley”

St. John’s has more bars and pubs per capita than any other city in Canada and most of them are located on the infamous George Street.  This evening the group gets to experience the famous nightlife of downtown St. John’s. We will host a traditional Fish and Chips Dinner and follow dinner with an organized Pub Crawl that features local entertainment and cultural experiences in each venue.  We finish the event at a venue that can accommodate a live dance band and our group. We provide special passes to the group as to allow for easy access to all of the venues.  The logistics of the event go as follows:

Meet for Instructions

We will have everyone gather for the start of the “Rally in the Alley”.   Here we give each participant a colored customized bandana. Once everyone has received a bandana we will describe the flow of the event.  We introduce on stage the musicians (bagpipers, drummers, fifers, etc.) that will lead each group for the rest of the evening. For example, red bananas follow the bagpipe, green bandanas follow the bass drum, and the blue bandanas follow the marching snare drum (depending on the final group size).   Once all logistics have been explained the group will follow their assigned musical instrument to George Street.

Fish and Chips Dinner at Local Pub

Located on one of the oldest streets in North America, a local pub will provide the traditional Fish and Chips Dinner that has made St. John’s so famous.  For those who are allergic to seafood we arrange for an alternative meal.   While eating we arrange for a great local Newfoundland act to entertain.

Pub Crawl on George Street

Once everyone has finished with dinner, we arrange for a pub-crawl across George Street.  We would travel to 3 different venues with the earlier musicians leading the group to each venue.  At each venue we provide the following interactive entertainment:  An Irish Newfoundland Step Dance lesson from local dancers, a Newfoundland Sing-a-Long with song sheets, and a Newfoundland Screech-In.  We will arrange for participants to have a drink of their choice at each stop on the Rally.   Each activity takes approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. Once each group has visited all 3 venues we all meet at another appropriately sized venue for some final entertainment.

Final Destination & Entertainment

Once all of the groups have arrived at their final venue we arrange for a great local band to provide some entertainment for the group to enjoy a Scuff, and a Swally!
