PETER, PETER, PETER

TO PETER LARACY AND THE MCCARTHY PARTY TEAM

Hi Peter

I arrived back home in Sydney Australia yesterday after having a wonderful time on the Tour in Newfoundland and Labrador followed by a visit to my sister in Ottawa.

I would just like to say a big Thank You to you for providing a superb, comprehensive excellent Tour of Newfoundland and Labrador. You were an outstanding Guide and the best I have experienced.

Newfoundland and Labrador have such a rich history and through your clear measured excellent explanations and deep knowledge which you shared with us, I was able to gain a greater understanding of this remarkable Provence of Canada. We all loved hearing the beautiful poignant poems and excerpts from the books which you read to us along the way and you really are a superb story teller – we were all captivated by your great stories. We also loved your accordion playing and learning the dance steps – such fun. May you continue with these skills. It was all so very interesting and I have come away with wonderful memories of the whole Tour. I know my Tour friend Carolyn Valentine also shares my thoughts and sentiments.

I have attached the Medley of Songs which Carolyn and I put together – please see attached – which I sang at our Final Dinner for our Tour. Many of our Tour members expressed a wish to have a copy of our Farewell Song and I was wondering if you would mind sending it out to everyone by email as they all requested.

I wish you all the very best and may you continue to give much pleasure and joy as you share your genuine, wonderful depth of knowledge and understanding of this Provence which is dear to your heart.
I shall certainly recommend McCarthy’s Party to all our friends and to the local Travel Agent and to those interested in taking a Tour to Newfoundland and Labrador. I really had a stupendous time and have such a great memory of our Tour.

Many thanks again.

Kind regards and very Best Wishes to you and the Team.

Lynne Hughes.

FAREWELL SONG for our TOUR GROUP – 3rd JUNE 2019
with our GUIDE – PETER LARACY

Lynne Hughes and Carolyn Valentine put our heads together and came up with a medley of songs as our way of saying Thank You to Peter Laracy – our outstanding and wonderful Guide and to the whole McCarthy’s Party Team.

CHORUS
Sing to the tune – Glory, Glory Hallelujah

GLORY, GLORY WHAT A GRAND TOUR + 3
WE’VE HAD IN NEWFOUNDLAND.

SONG 1

Sing to the tune – Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah)

Guide us over Newfoundland with Peter
Fill us with your knowledge wide.
Let’s soak in the history, we love it,
Land us safe on St John’s side.
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer,
Take us places so sublime,
Take us places so sublime.

SONG 2

Sing to the tune – How do you solve a problem like Maria – from the Sound of Music

How does a Tour Guide plan to make us welcome,
How does he hold our bus and pin it down.
How does he stop us all from slower pacing.
An ‘All Aboard,’ A train whistle blow, a Cucumber !!!!

Many a thing he knows he needs to tell us.
Many a Tale we ought to understand.
But how does he make us stay
And listen to him ALL DAY.
We’re packed in tight no elbow room to spare.
But Ken our Driver kept us all from flagging,
By finding a Moose or two along the way.

SONG 3
Sing to the tune – Have You Ever Been Across the Sea to Ireland.

Have you ever been across here to Newfoundland
It’s history going back six thousand years.
With towns so quaint and coastal scenery so grand,
A surprise around each corner just appears.

We’ve seen puffins, whales and icebergs in the ocean,
A whaling-station and light-houses too,
Tectonic plates that set the ground in motion
And National Parks as we were passing through.

Have you ever tasted Newfoundlanders’ cooking
Or sampled their Jigs Dinner Potted Stew?
At history and at wildlife we’ve been looking,
And met up with a bunch of Vikings too!

Have you ever listened to Peter play his accordion,
Or danced to ‘Thread the Needle” on the floor?
Or heard his longggg responses in Canadian
And enjoyed his storytelling of folklore?

Peter and the Boat Crew tried to make us Newfies,
We took the Pledge and Screechers we became.
We have now heard lots of Stories about Fairies,
And we never will regard them quite the same.

Our McCarthy’s Tour was a real ripper
With swinging, singing, dancing fun at night.
We felt we didn’t really need a stripper
Even though there wasn’t one in sight – Apart from a few Dildos !!!!

And now it’s nearly time to end our stay here
And say farewell to every one of you.
It’s been a time of great fun and of good cheer,
We’ve learned so much we never ever knew.

We thank you Peter for your expert guiding,
And giving us the most stupendous time.
We go away with memories abiding
And think that Newfoundland is just sublime.

CHORUS

GLORY, GLORY WHAT A GRAND TOUR + 3
WE’VE HAD IN NEWFOUNDLAND.
