DEFIB MY HEART

Our guides hail from all corners of the province and most are active in their local community. Many of these rural towns are currently focused on the acquisition of defibrillators for their recreational centers. This issue was tabled at our annual guide meeting where we discuss the tour year, make suggestions, and offer ideas to improve our product / service offering. The guides asked if we could provide an inventory of all the defibrillators in the province.

A capital idea that deserved and received our every attention.

“… a capital idea…”

The Newfoundland & Labrador Heart & Stroke Foundation were an early point of contact and they were kind enough to offer a file containing all the community centers where they’ve placed units.

Brilliant!

We then reached out to all our friends and suppliers, prompting them with the list of known defibrillators and asking them to help expand upon it. Once again our partners were most cooperative, providing a flood of information that helped supplement our growing registry.

What a great day. Not only are we addressing an important issue but we also had a lot of fun talking with friends, catching up on the news, and sharing laughs over gems like these;

“Point Amour Lighthouse must have one – enough steps to make that a stairway to heaven if you’re not careful! “

“Can’t see anyone in Heart’s Content, Heart’s Delight or Little Hearts Ease needing one!”

“… stairway to heaven…”

Thankfully, it seems there are quite a few defibrillators located throughout the province and we now know the locations of those which will best benefit guests on McCarthy’s Party Tours if, God forbid, we should ever need one.

But we can’t stop now and hope to continue this project with the aim of creating an invaluable safety reference that can be shared by all. If you are from Newfoundland & Labrador and know for a defibrillator in your town, work place, public space, etc. please send us the particulars.

“… know for a defibrillator…”

Every second counts when it comes to matters of the heart so let’s make a Valentine that really gets things pumping!

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
