On August 23, 2017 McCarthy’s Party was privileged to host Gloria Davies as one of their guests on our 12 Day Comprehensive Cross Island Tour of the province.
Whether it was a coincidence or an occurrence of faith this was Gloria’s second visit to the town of Gander. Exactly 63 years ago to the day, Gloria first landed in Gander on August 23, 1954 aboard the BOAC Britannia. The plane stopped over at Gander to refuel en route from London, England. Gloria was emigrating to Canada to begin her journey as a Canadian citizen.
August 23, 2017 marked the 64th anniversary of her initial landing in Canada.
Not only were we truly honoured to welcome her as a tourist with McCarthy’s Party, but also to be able to call her a fellow Canadian citizen.
Welcome to Gander and our province for the second time, Gloria.
You might have “Come From Away” but we’re so glad you stayed.
